Some kids are counting down the days, while others don’t want summer vacation to end. Whatever you feelings are, local schools are back in session as early as Aug. 1. To help ease the end of summer vacation and help with the cost of school supplies many businesses and organizations are hosting back-to-school events. Here’s a list of those upcoming events in or nearby Kokomo.

- Department of Child Services Back to School Event 
 Sponsored by Solidarity Federal Credit Union- 4 to 7 p. m. Tuesday, July 23

 Free school supplies will be available while supplies last. This event is open to all residents of Howard County and is not income based. Children attending school must be present to claim supplies.
 
- Carver Community Center Resource Fair & Giveaway - 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 25

 Students of all ages can participate. The event will include school supplies, backpacks, vaccines, haircuts, snacks and more! Registration is preferred for immunizations, but walk-ins are welcome.  This event will feature free haircuts and school supplies with food and fun including a bounce house and entertainment. Those that attend have the chance of winning additional prizes.

 This annual event is for those in the Peru and Miami County area. There will be food, games, haircuts, and backpacks all available at no cost.
