The Frozen Sandlot Returns for Its 8th Season — Keeping Winter Fun Affordable for Kokomo Families
Kokomo is officially getting ready to lace up those skates again! According to a press release from the City of Kokomo and Bridges Outreach, The Frozen Sandlot will return for its eighth season this winter, bringing back one of the community’s most beloved seasonal traditions.
According to a press release from the City of Kokomo and Bridges Outreach, the ice rink will open Friday, November 28, the day after Thanksgiving and remain open through Sunday, January 11. Despite rising costs across the board, organizers are proud to keep admission prices exactly the same this season. A move that underscores their commitment to providing affordable, family-friendly fun for everyone in the community.
A Winter Tradition That Gives Back
The Frozen Sandlot isn’t just a place to glide across the ice, it’s also a way to give back to the community. The rink provides workforce development opportunities through Bridges Outreach, employing more than 25 workers each winter and offering internships for students.
“The Frozen Sandlot is a great way for Bridges to employ current and former students and support the community,” said Travis Taflinger, CEO of Bridges Outreach. “Ice skating brings back a lot of great memories for adults in our community and it is a great experience for their children. We love providing this family-friendly service to North Central Indiana!”
Over the past four seasons, the rink has averaged 6,500 skaters each year, drawing visitors from across Indiana and beyond.
Affordable Family Fun
The Frozen Sandlot’s admission remains $7 per ticket, which includes skate rental and all-day access, meaning families can skate, take a break for cocoa and return later without any additional charge. Those bringing their own skates or spectators who simply want to enjoy the winter atmosphere, pay just $5.
The rink also offers hot chocolate, a heated skate tent and a heated suite rental option for group events, parties, or cozy date nights. Whether it’s a birthday celebration, school outing or holiday gathering, there are packages available for every occasion.
“We love hosting people from all over Indiana and beyond,” Taflinger said. “Families have the opportunity to spend time together, get outside, and have some fun!”
