Howard County Basketball: Dec. 27 Prediction and Preview

The holiday break is over, and high school basketball returns to center stage as teams get back on the court following Christmas. After a few days away from game action, the reset brings renewed energy, sharper focus, and plenty of motivation as players look to finish December strong and build momentum heading into the heart of the season.

Saturday’s slate features just one game, but it’s one that carries plenty of intrigue. A familiar matchup, contrasting trends, and the chance to make a statement make this a perfect way to kick off post-Christmas basketball.

Taylor (3-1) vs Eastern (Greentown) (2-4)

Taylor and Eastern (Greentown) enter this rivalry matchup trending in opposite directions. The Titans are riding a three-game winning streak, while the Comets have dropped three straight. Taylor continues to adjust to a new system under first-year head coach Fonso White, while Eastern is searching for the formula that fueled an 86-point outburst in its season opener.

Defense could be the deciding factor. Eastern has struggled on that end of the floor, allowing at least 66 points in each game during its three-game skid. Taylor, meanwhile, has been solid defensively, giving up just 41.5 points per game. There is a common saying that defense travels, and Taylor’s ability to defend could be the difference as the Titans make the trip to Greentown.

Winner: Taylor

As conference play heats up and rivalries take center stage, Saturday night offers another great opportunity for fans to support local student-athletes and be part of the atmosphere that makes high school basketball special. Energy from the stands can make a real difference as teams look to build momentum heading into the heart of the season.

The Kokomo Post Sports team will be on site for Taylor at Eastern, providing live coverage, updates, and highlights throughout the night.
