You might be thinking, “Why is a bank hyping up an art and plant store?” Well, that’s because local businesses that help people be their healthiest are kind of their thing. Pretty un-bank-like, right? And obviously, it’s our thing too! This Kokomo Uncovered is showcasing Roots & Timber!
Did you know there’s a cozy little shop tucked inside the Kokomo Antique Mall that combines plants, art, and a whole lot of heart? Well, now you do! Roots & Timber is a dream store that is 5 years in the making. You can find Roots & Timber on the third floor of the Kokomo Antique Mall, surrounded by three stories of vintage treasures. Roots & Timber, however, feels different. It’s quiet, it’s handmade, and it’s completely personal. The owner, Christine Oyler, fills the shop with beginner-friendly plants and all this vintage brass, plus her own handmade woodworks. She creates custom frames and handsets for natural specimens, including butterflies, praying mantises, and more!
Christine says the process is therapeutic for her, and as a customer, you can certainly feel that welcoming energy in the space. By day, she helps run the Kokomo Veterans’ and Mental Health Court, but this shop is her personal passion project. Whether you’re a plant lover, a vintage collector, or someone who just appreciates things that are made with care, Roots & Timber is worth the visit.
