Rocking Kokomo by Candlelight Returns for an Encore Performance
Back by popular demand, the Kokomo Symphony Orchestra is once again blending rock, pop and candlelight to create one of the most unique musical experiences in the city.
“Rocking Kokomo by Candlelight” returns to The Hobson on Friday, November 14, promising a magical night of music, community and local flair. The event serves as a fundraiser for the Kokomo Symphony Orchestra’s 52nd season, helping to sustain the work of this long standing musical organization that has been enriching the Kokomo area with live symphonic performances for over five decades.
“This event is fun and very unique, something you don’t want to miss!” said Jennifer Rollins, Director of Development for the Kokomo Symphonic Society. “We had such an amazing response last year and everyone kept asking us to please do it again, so we are! It’s an incredible way to support the Symphony while also having a fantastic night out.”
A Night to Remember
The evening begins at 6 p.m. inside The Hobson’s event space, which will be glowing with hundreds of flickering candles. Guests will be welcomed with charcuterie boards from Overgrown Pasture, a cash bar and plenty of time to mingle before the music begins. The relaxed yet refined atmosphere encourages guests to dress however they feel comfortable, whether that means cocktail attire or jeans and a favorite jacket.
At 7 p.m., the KSO Quintet, a talented group of five Kokomo Symphony musicians, will take the stage surrounded by candlelight. The quintet will perform an engaging set of rock and pop favorites, arranged for their unique instrumental sound. Expect new takes on songs from Ariana Grande, Queen, Coldplay, Shawn Mendes, Maroon 5, Billie Eilish and many others.
“The mix of modern music with classical instruments and candlelight is what makes this event so special,” Rollins said. “It’s a cozy, intimate experience, like being in a speakeasy, but with an energy that really connects the audience and musicians.”
Midway through the evening, guests can take part in a live auction featuring a few exclusive items, with proceeds directly benefiting the Symphony’s programs, education efforts and community outreach. After the auction, the music continues for another lively half hour, ensuring the night ends on a high note.
A Celebration of Community and Music
The Kokomo Symphony Orchestra has been a cornerstone of local arts since its founding in 1973, performing everything from classical works to pop collaborations. Events like Rocking Kokomo by Candlelight not only raise vital funds but also showcase the Symphony’s commitment to innovation and accessibility.
“This event is such a great way to see the Symphony in a totally different light,” said Rollins. “It’s not a traditional concert hall performance. It’s relaxed, fun and full of surprises. We want people to walk away with a new appreciation for what the Symphony brings to Kokomo.”
Support the Symphony
Individual seats are $35 and a limited number of tables are available for groups who want to make the evening even more special. Tickets can be purchased online at kokomosymphony.net or by calling 765-236-0251. A small number of tickets will also be available at the door.
The Symphony is also inviting sponsors to partner in this event. “If you’d like recognition at the event and want to help keep live music thriving in Kokomo, we’d love to hear from you,” Rollins added.
So mark your calendars, gather your friends and prepare to experience an evening that truly rocks. The return of Rocking Kokomo by Candlelight will bring together music, community and candlelight in perfect harmony.
