Western shocked Class 2A No. 2 Indianapolis Lutheran on Friday night, delivering a 46-14 start-to-finish win that showcased both power and balance. The Panthers, who snapped a 13-game losing streak just a week earlier, now sit at 2-1 with all the momentum.

Western racked up 573 yards of offense, including 469 on the ground, while holding the Saints to just 15 total yards.

The Panthers set the tone early when Levi Shoemaker hit Mason Conner for a 68-yard touchdown pass. McKitrick then added back-to-back scoring runs, including a punishing 95-yard sprint that put Western firmly in control. Shoemaker also broke free for a 54-yard touchdown, celebrating as he crossed the goal line.

McKitrick finished with 27 carries for 273 yards and three touchdowns. Shoemaker added 120 yards and two scores on 12 carries.

In the fourth quarter, kicker Xavier Sanz drilled a 42-yard field goal before Lutheran answered with a kickoff return for its final touchdown.

Western will try to keep its surge going next Friday at home against Tipton.
