A New Chapter Blooms: Jefferson House of Flowers Unveils The Willow Room
If you’ve visited Jefferson House of Flowers recently, you may have noticed a transformation taking shape inside the boutique portion of the store and now, the doors are officially open, unveiling The Willow Room: a calm, intentional, and deeply meaningful addition to an already beloved space.
The Willow Room at Jefferson House is a thoughtfully designed sympathy and Christian bookstore created to serve individuals and families during life’s most meaningful and often most difficult moments.
Located at 4300 W. 100 N. in Kokomo, Jefferson House of Flowers home to JH Events and now The Willow Room is owned and operated by Truman and Kelli Elkins, alongside Jonathan and Kayla Keith. While the space may look new, the heart behind it is rooted in nearly a decade of serving families through flowers, remembrance, and love.
More Than a Store — A Place of Comfort
The Willow Room was created with a very specific purpose: to care for people walking through grief, loss, and life’s hardest seasons. Unlike a traditional gift shop or bookstore, this space lives at the intersection of faith, sympathy, and personal connection.
Every detail from the peaceful layout to the carefully curated products is intentional. The goal is simple but powerful: to bring peace, hope, and healing when words are hard to find.
Many of the items offered are customizable, just like their floral arrangements, allowing families to create something truly personal to honor a loved one or mark an important moment.
What You’ll Find Inside The Willow Room
While Jefferson House of Flowers remains the full-service florist Kokomo knows and loves, The Willow Room adds an entirely new layer to the experience, including:
Christian books, Bibles, devotionals, journals, and stationery
Sympathy gifts and memorial keepsakes (both religious and non-religious)
Custom and personalized remembrance items
Cremation jewelry and engraved pieces
Comfort gifts for grief, illness, and encouragement
Outdoor cemetery decor
Thoughtful gifts for everyday occasions
Kokomo-themed items
It’s a space designed to help you find exactly what you need whether you’re honoring a life, offering comfort, or simply looking for a meaningful gift.
What to Expect When You Visit
Guests can expect a calm, welcoming environment where compassion comes first. The Willow Room is designed to feel unhurried and peaceful, a place where no one feels pushed through grief or celebration.
The staff is there to gently guide you, whether you’re choosing flowers, selecting a memorial gift, or looking for encouragement during a difficult season. There’s even a quiet space where visitors are welcome to sit, sip coffee, read, talk, or simply gather their thoughts.
Why the Transition?
After years in the floral industry, the owners noticed something profound: flowers and sympathy gifts are deeply woven into moments of loss, remembrance, and love. Creating The Willow Room felt like the natural next step and an opportunity to walk alongside families during their hardest moments.
A Thoughtfully Designed Event Space
In addition to the retail space and The Willow Room, you may already know that The Jefferson House is also home to JH Events, an event space connected to the flower shop and boutique that offers both indoor and outdoor areas for rent to celebrate all kinds of occasions. Now, with the addition of The Willow Room, they’re also expanding how JH Events can serve the community by offering a neutral, non-religious setting for funerals, memorials, and celebrations of life.
With a peaceful, welcoming atmosphere and a full kitchen on site, the space is ideal for funeral dinners or receptions, especially for families without a church home. It allows loved ones to remain together in one meaningful place during emotionally important moments, without pressure or formality.
What’s Ahead
Looking forward, Jefferson House and The Willow Room will continue offering:
Full floral services for all occasions
An expanded, Kokomo-unique memorial room
New faith-based product lines
Community partnerships
Workshops, classes, gatherings, celebrations of life, and funeral dinners
Most of all, the team is looking forward to serving families in deeper ways and creating and offering meaningful pieces that honor stories, relationships, and faith. Their hope is to become Kokomo’s go-to sympathy store, a steady and comforting presence when it’s needed most.
