The Kokomo Post Kids: Weekly Fun Calendar


It’s easy to say that Kokomo is so boring when you don’t know what’s going on in town. Even our kids love telling us how dull life can get when your days all look the same. We’re here with a new weekly fun calendar, hoping to encourage you and your family to try something new and experience more of what Kokomo has to offer. Here’s something you can do with your kids every day this week! Take a look and tell them we sent you!

    • Open Bowling at Heritage Lanes | 4-10 p.m.

      Fun for the whole family

      End your week with some fun and call Heritage lanes to check for open bowling availability. They have open bowling from 4-10 p.m. Mondays and a group of five can bowl for an hour for $40 (that includes those fancy bowling shoes). Bowling is an easy and fun activity for the whole family and you can grab some grub at Roddy’s while you’re there.       Recommended ages 8-13

    The Discovery Center at KHCPL Main is available to offer kids aged 8-13 as a fun after-school activity and chance to make friends and explore STEM related activities. This week, youth will have the opportunity to work with Hex Bugs. The Discovery Center is open weekly and rotates through different activities. If you miss out this week, be sure to check out the events tab on the KHCPL website and look for the orange and blue lightbulb.

      The ultimate place for a kid to be a kid is still right here in Kokomo! Chuck E. Cheese is open from 11 a.m.- 9 p.m. on Saturdays and combines the food, entertainment, fun and prizes we all remember as kids. Check out their website for special coupons to save on food and game play.

      Fun for the whole family

      The Kirkendall Nature Center is currently operating on their winter schedule with open hours on Tuesday and Thursday during the week and on Saturday and Sunday. The nature center is home to many Kokomo Parks and Recreation Department (KPRD) activities including creature features throughout the summer months. If you’ve never visited the nature center, it is a great place to learn more about local wildlife species, plants and insects. In addition to the preserved and live animals, the nature center has games, books, and other hands-on activities for the whole family to enjoy.

      For youth ages 6-11

      Hopefully, you’ve taken a peek at the chicken watch camera on the KHCPL website. Animal science and Agriculture are great pathways to learning more about the world around us. Join Mathias Ingle, the Purdue Extension Howard County Agriculture and Natural Resources Educator as he demonstrates egg candling: using a bright light source behind the egg to show details through the shell.       After celebrating their season opening last weekend, we are so excited to see the signs of spring and summer weather so we can play at City of Firsts Adventure Park. There’s fun and competition for the whole family whether you want to take a swing at the batting cages, score on your favorite mini-golf course, or race to the finish line on the go-karts. Before entering the park everyone must complete and sign a waiver. More information, including pricing and age or height requirements can be found on the City of Firsts Adventure Park Website.     Check out Gravity Trampoline Park on Sundays for open jump from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. and salvation from 6-8 p.m. Open jump allows the whole family to jump around the entire park listening to the top music hits at $15 per hour of jump time. Later in the day salvation jump time gives you access to the trampoline park for $12 with your favorite worship music playing.
