Local Children’s Author Puts Characters with Disabilities in the Spotlight

In a 2019 study conducted by Cooperative Children's Book Center, only 3.4 percent of children's books featured main characters with disabilities. When speech pathologist and author Kim Spence-Bollinger, who was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at the age of 2, saw the lack of representation, she was inspired to help make a change.
