25 Mother’s Day Gift Ideas Kokomo Moms Actually Want
Mother’s Day is this weekend, and if you’re still on the hunt for something special for Mom, I’ve got you covered! As a mom myself, I feel like I have a pretty good radar for what the special mom in your life might actually want this year. That’s why I’ve put together a list of all things local that you should consider.
Take a look at my recommendations below and let me know if anything inspires you or if there’s something I should add to the list!
Self-Care
Scalp Facial at MJR Skincare
Let’s be honest, self-care isn’t always a top priority for moms. Between busy schedules, taking care of kids, and everything else on her plate, it’s easy for Mom to forget about herself. These are some self-care options you truly can’t go wrong with:
MJR Skincare
I recently got a scalp facial at MJR Skincare, and I’m not kidding when I say I may have been drooling during the appointment. This is such a unique service. They use combs, massage techniques, and water treatments where your scalp and hair are the star of the show. It’s relaxing in a way you don’t even realize you need until you experience it. If you’re looking for something outside of the typical spa service, this is it.
Healing Hands Spa
In my opinion, you can never go wrong with a massage. It’s one of my favorite gifts to receive, and Healing Hands Spa is one of my go-to spots when I need to fully unplug. Imagine gifting Mom an hour or more where she doesn’t have to answer questions, make decisions, or take care of anyone else. Just pure relaxation.
Summit Salon Academy
Did you know there’s a full spa inside Summit Salon Academy? Students work on real clients and offer a wide variety of services. I’ve personally been several times and always had a great experience. The best part is that because they’re students, the pricing is much more affordable. That means you can book a massage and add on extras like cupping, hot stones, or additional treatments that you might normally skip at a traditional spa.
Live Well 360
This health and wellness med spa offers a little bit of everything. If the mom in your life has been hinting at trying something new, whether it’s skincare treatments, wellness services, or beauty enhancements, this is a great place to grab a gift card so she can choose exactly what she wants.
Wellness City
Here’s a thought. Why gift a one-time experience when you could give her access all year long? A membership to Wellness City means she can pop in whenever she needs a reset. They offer massage chairs and tables, cryotherapy, spray tanning, red light therapy, and so much more. It’s the kind of gift that keeps on giving.
Plants & Flowers
Flowers from Bloom Time Gardens
Flowers are a classic, but let’s make it a little more thoughtful than a last-minute grocery store grab.
Jefferson House of Flowers
When it comes to local flower shops, Jefferson House is top of mind and for good reason. Yes, they offer beautiful arrangements for every holiday, but what really sets them apart is their ability to create completely custom pieces. Tell them her favorite color, her favorite flower, or even a few things she loves, and they can design something one of a kind. They also offer unique vessels beyond the typical vase, which makes the arrangement feel even more special. And don’t forget to check out The Willow Room while you’re there. You’ll find stained glass pieces, personalized gifts, and other items that pair perfectly with flowers.
Cricket’s Rocks & Roots
If you’re looking for something with a little more longevity, this is your spot. Their plant selection is incredible, and they carry everything from easy-to-care-for houseplants to more unique varieties. They also have some really fun and sometimes humorous planters that add personality to your gift.
Bloom Time Gardens
This local nursery is absolutely adorable and perfect if you’re looking to really wow Mom. Think hanging baskets that are absolutely overflowing with flowers, vibrant planters, or something new for her flower beds. It’s one of those places where you go in for one thing and leave with five.
Humble Home
Did you know Humble Home recently started selling plants and flowers? Their selection has been so good, and the pricing is super reasonable. If you have a gardener in your life, this is a great place to pick up flowers for her beds or even items for a veggie garden.
Jewelry
Charm Bar at Olive Tree Boutique
Listen, moms want jewelry but not the cheesy kind. Let’s skip the standard department store heart pendants and go for something a little more thoughtful.
Olive Tree Boutique
This is the perfect place to create something completely custom. Their charm bar lets you build a piece of jewelry that represents everything she loves. Think birthstones, initials, and charms like flowers, bows, crosses, martini glasses, and more. It’s such a fun way to give her something that actually feels personal.
Gold Fever
One of my favorite jewelers in town because they carry beautiful, upscale pieces at reasonable prices. Think ring stacks with different bands representing each child’s birthstone, dainty initial necklaces, or even engraved pieces that say Mom. It’s classic but still meaningful.
Bonded Beauty
Take things a step further with permanent jewelry. Yes, permanent. It’s perfect for someone who loves to wear jewelry all the time or is known for losing their favorite pieces. And honestly, what makes it even better is doing it together. How fun would it be to get matching permanent bracelets with your mom? Such a sweet bonding moment.
Experiences
DIY Candles at Back Woods Trading Company
In my opinion, experiences are some of the best gifts you can give. At the end of the day, most moms just want quality time.
The Booze Buggy
This is one of those experiences you might not even realize exists, but it is so fun. They offer private classes where bartenders come to you with everything you need for a hands-on cocktail or mocktail workshop. They will teach you how to make drinks, bring fun tools like smokers, and even customize the experience with themed menus and signature drinks. It’s interactive, unique, and perfect for a group celebration.
Fired Arts Studio
If your mom loves to get creative, this is such a fun option. They offer workshops like pottery painting, canvas painting, mosaics, and more. You get to spend time together while making something you can actually take home and keep.
Back Woods Trading Company
This downtown spot offers some really cool hands-on experiences. You can build your own leather tote by selecting materials and following a step-by-step process, or head to their candle-making station where you choose your vessel, create a custom scent from their wax wall, and even design your own label. It’s such a fun and personalized experience.
ANP Photography
Let’s be honest, mom is usually the one taking the photos, not in them. A mommy and me photo session is such a meaningful gift because it gives her something she will treasure forever, professional photos with her kids.
Something Delicious
Because… Mom’s gotta eat.
Brunch from The Coterie
J. Edward’s
Whether you’re celebrating with a full cake, grabbing a few cupcakes, or adding something sweet into a gift basket, you really can’t go wrong here. Everything is consistently delicious.
SUTE
If you’re looking for a more elevated dining experience, this newer restaurant on Buckeye is such a great option. Their menu has a lot to offer, but the standout in my opinion is the Korean BBQ experience where you cook your food right at the table. It’s interactive, fun, and perfect for celebrating.
The Coterie
If you want something a little more laid back but still amazing, do not sleep on brunch here. Seriously, just scroll through their social media and look at their weekly features. It’s way beyond your typical brunch menu.
Shop Local
If you love putting together gift baskets (same), these spots are perfect:
Hats from Ann Marie’s Boutique
Ann Marie’s Boutique
Located in downtown Kokomo, this shop has so many cute options from hats and t-shirts to makeup bags and drinkware. And let’s be real, it would not be Mother’s Day without at least one thing that says Mom on it.
Eden’s Way
This adorable shop is filled with unique gift items like sun catchers, garden stakes, rain chains, and other decorative pieces that feel thoughtful and different.
Kokomo Opalescent Glass
Homemade gifts are always special, but if you’re not the DIY type, this is the next best thing. Their gift shop is filled with beautiful handmade items that make really meaningful gifts.
Kokomo Antique Mall
Give the gift of nostalgia. You never know what you’ll find here, vintage décor, artwork, toys from past decades, or something that reminds you of a special memory. It’s the kind of place where you can find a gift that truly tells a story.
If you’re still deciding, my biggest tip? Make it personal. Whether it’s something relaxing, meaningful, or just time spent together, that’s what Mom will remember most.
