Featured in Kokomo Uncovered, partnered with Community First Bank of Indiana, the Kirkendall Nature Center is a hidden gem that offers families a fun and educational experience without cost. While it may seem unexpected for a bank to spotlight a nature center, Community First believes in supporting local, and so do we.

Located inside Jackson Morrow Park, Kirkendall Nature Center is packed with hands-on activities and interactive learning opportunities that keep kids engaged from the moment they walk in.

A Space Built for Exploration

Inside the center, you will find rotating activity stations featuring crafts, games, and educational displays focused on topics like nature, weather, and wildlife. It is the kind of place where kids can learn while having fun, without even realizing it.

There are also animal exhibits throughout the space, including turtles, toads, fish, and more, giving kids the chance to see and learn about live animals up close.

For a more relaxed experience, the center offers a cozy reading and play area complete with bean bag chairs, board games, books, and even a giant Connect Four. It is a space where kids of all ages can unwind while still staying engaged.

Take the Adventure Outside

Kirkendall Nature Center offers activities that you can take outside as well, like their Exploration Pack. Families can check out a backpack filled with everything needed for an outdoor adventure, including binoculars, bug catchers, compasses, sunscreen, and more.

All you have to do is sign it out for the day and return it before closing, making it an easy and exciting way to explore the park beyond the center’s walls.
