Week 4 promises plenty of excitement. Key players are stepping into larger roles, while teams aim to rebound from tough losses or extend early winning streaks. With so much on the line, the Friday night lights are set to deliver another memorable night of football.
Each week, we’ll break down the matchups, predict winners, and track our record throughout the 2025-26 season. Feel free to make your own picks and see if you can beat mine.
Now, let’s dive into this week’s games.
Jeffersonville (1-2) vs Kokomo (0-3)
Kokomo’s struggles continued last week as the Wildkats remained winless through three games. Homecoming festivities will add energy Friday night when they return to Walter Cross Field to face Jeffersonville.
The Red Devils have also battled inconsistency early in the season. While their offense is beginning to find a rhythm, defensive lapses have cost them in losses. With both teams looking for momentum, Kokomo hopes homecoming and the return of key players can spark its first win of the season, while Jeffersonville aims to spoil the celebration.
Winner: Jeffersonville
Tipton (2-1) vs Western (2-1)
Western fans are still riding the high of the Panthers’ statement win over then Class 2A No. 2 Indianapolis Lutheran in Week 2. Western lit up the scoreboard and matched it with a defense that played lights out. The Panthers will look to carry that same energy into a tough matchup with Tipton.
The Blue Devils are looking to bounce back after a 20-point loss to Twin Lakes, their first true test of the season. That game provided Tipton plenty of film to evaluate and correct mistakes. With Western’s defense setting the tone early this year, the Panthers hope to keep momentum rolling while Tipton searches for answers.
Winner: Western
Northwestern (1-2) vs Peru (1-2)
Northwestern picked up their first win of the season last week against Southwood. It was a big step under a new head coach, and the Tigers will look to build on that confidence when they face Peru.
Peru comes in off a narrow two-point loss to Lewis Cass, but their offense has shown consistency with back-to-back strong outings. Friday’s matchup feels like it could come down to which team can crack 30 points first — and so far, only Peru has done it this season.
Winner: Peru
1A No. 16 Taylor 2-1 vs 2A No. 9 Eastern (Greentown) (3-0)
Friday’s rivalry game between Taylor and Eastern has the potential to be one of the county’s best through the first four weeks of the season. Both teams feature standout players and coaching staffs that know each other well, making for an intriguing matchup.
Taylor’s Javionne Harris has been electric, ranking No. 2 in the nation in total points (84) and No. 8 in touchdowns (13). On the other side, Eastern’s Abe Edwards sits No. 2 in the state with 50 tackles. Still, individual numbers alone won’t decide this one. Taylor may have the best athlete on the field, but Eastern’s balance and depth could be the difference, especially on Homecoming night.
Winner: Eastern
Week four in Howard County promises another thrilling Friday night of football. Every game counts as teams push to make their mark on the season. Fans can expect plenty of action, big plays, and unforgettable moments under the lights.
