Preserving African American Traditions Through Story and Song
Through storytelling and song, the Freetown Village Singers of Indianapolis present a rich and interactive experience that highlights the traditions and cultural heritage of African Americans. Their presentation features a collection of traditional folk songs and spirituals that have been passed down through generations.

With a blend of a cappella singing and storytelling, the Singers bring to life the historical context and emotional depth of songs once sung during religious services, labor, and times of rest more than a century ago. Join the Freetown Village Singers for a moving journey through American musical history and uncover the often-hidden meanings woven into these powerful songs.
