Western Faces Delta in High-Stakes Regional Championship Battle

Western stands as the lone Howard County team still alive in the IHSAA tournament, and their

impressive season rolls on with a regional title up for grabs. While they won’t be playing in

Russiaville this weekend, the short trip to Logansport means the Tigers are sure to have a strong

crowd behind them as fans pack the stands to show their support.

Now, with the stage set and the stakes clear—let’s break down the matchup and predict who comes

out on top.

3A Regional Championship

Host: Logansport High School

The 3A #8 Western Panthers (26-4) are one win away from a semistate appearance, and their next

test comes Saturday morning at Jim Turner Field in Logansport.

Western will face Delta (21-9) at 11 a.m. in a Class 3A regional championship game as part of the

2025 IHSAA baseball tournament. The Panthers enter with momentum and a deep roster that’s

delivered in big moments all postseason. Now, they’ll try to punch their ticket to the next round

against a Delta team that’s earned its own spot in the regional final.

Both Western and Delta have battled their way to this point in the season, each with a unique path

to Saturday’s Class 3A Regional 12 championship. On paper, the matchup is a good one—but one

team enters more tested, more hardened, and better prepared for the moment.

Delta dominated its sectional, shutting out every opponent en route to the title. But none of those

wins came against teams with a winning record. As impressive as the margins were, the Eagles

haven’t faced the type of firepower Western brings to the field.

The Panthers, meanwhile, have faced adversity head-on. Their journey to the regional final has

demanded resilience, timely hitting, and big performances on the mound—something they’ve

gotten consistently throughout the postseason. With multiple players stepping up when it matters

most, Western looks primed to keep its tournament run alive and push one step closer to a state

title.

Winner: Western

Saturday’s regional championship promises to be a high-energy, high-stakes showdown between

two talented programs. With a trip to semistate on the line, Western looks to prove once again that

they’re built for big moments.
