Kokomo Uncovered: Rediscover Your Childhood at Rescued Toys in Greentown
What if we told you there's a little toy store right here in Howard County where you might just find a piece of your childhood waiting on the shelves?
Whether you're a serious toy collector, a parent looking for something fun for your kids, or someone who gets a little too excited when you spot a toy you haven't seen since 1998, there's a local business in Greentown you'll want to check out!
In the latest episode of Kokomo Uncovered, partnered with Robert Miller & Son Furniture, we're taking a trip just outside of Kokomo to visit Rescued Toys, a locally owned toy store located at 107 N. Meridian Street in Greentown, Indiana.
A Toy Store That's Doing Things a Little Differently
When you think about shopping for toys, your mind probably goes straight to the big-box stores filled with aisles of the latest and greatest toys on the market.
But Rescued Toys is doing things a little differently.
This family-owned business has been around since 2001, buying and selling toys while giving customers a place to discover something fun, unexpected and maybe even a little nostalgic.
Unlike your typical toy store, part of the excitement of visiting Rescued Toys is that you never really know what you might find.
From toys that bring back childhood memories to collectibles that might be exactly what you've been searching for, this little shop offers a shopping experience that's just as much about the thrill of discovery as it is about the toys themselves.
A Little Nostalgia Goes a Long Way
Let's be honest. There are certain toys from our childhood that we would recognize in a heartbeat.
Maybe it's something you begged your parents for every Christmas, an action figure you carried around everywhere, or a toy you completely forgot existed until you saw it sitting on a shelf again.
And just like that, you're eight years old all over again.
That's part of what makes a place like Rescued Toys so special.
For adults, it's an opportunity to take a trip down memory lane and rediscover toys that once brought them so much joy. For collectors, it's another place to search for something special to add to their collection.
And for kids? It's a chance to experience the excitement of exploring a toy store filled with possibilities.
Whether you're shopping for yourself, your children or someone else, there's something pretty special about finding a toy that brings a smile to your face.
Giving Old Toys a New Home
One of the things that makes Rescued Toys unique is that they don't just sell toys — they buy them, too!
If you have toys or collectibles sitting around your house that you're ready to part with, Rescued Toys might be a great local business to contact.
Rather than letting those items collect dust in storage, you could give them the opportunity to find a new home with someone who will appreciate them just as much as you once did.
And we love that idea!
Something that brought joy to one person years ago could end up creating brand-new memories for someone else.
It's a simple concept, but one that makes shopping at a locally owned resale toy store feel a little more meaningful.
A Hidden Gem Worth Exploring in Greentown
One of our favorite things about producing Kokomo Uncovered is discovering businesses and experiences that people might not even realize exist right here in our own community.
And Rescued Toys is a great example.
You don't have to travel far or visit a massive shopping center to find something fun and unique. Sometimes, all it takes is a short drive to a neighboring community and a little curiosity.
Whether you're hoping to track down a childhood favorite, add something new to your collection, find a fun surprise for your kids or simply browse the shelves, Rescued Toys is definitely worth adding to your list of local places to explore.
