Library Con returns with games, cosplay, and more
Gamers, creators and storytellers from across the community are invited to take part in the Kokomo-Howard County Public Library’s second annual Library Con, a full-day celebration packed with interactive activities, workshops and entertainment.
According to information provided to The Kokomo Post by the library in a press release sent April 10, Library Con will take place on Saturday, May 16, offering a wide range of free activities designed to appeal to everyone from seasoned tabletop gamers to families simply looking for a fun day out.
The bulk of the event will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at KHCPL South, located at 1755 E. Center Road. During that time, visitors can explore a vibrant vendor hall, take part in hands-on activities and immerse themselves in a variety of fandom-inspired experiences.
Beginning at 11 a.m., attendees can dive into activities such as a Pokemon scavenger hunt, LEGO building stations, Live Action Role-Play (LARP) and craft areas for all ages. Younger guests will also have the chance to enjoy a live Mario Kart track, bringing a favorite video game to life in an interactive way.
One of the highlights of the day will take place at noon, when participants are invited to join a cosplay parade around the library. Immediately following the parade, a costume contest will give attendees the chance to show off their creativity and craftsmanship with prizes awarded to winners.
In addition to games and activities, Library Con will feature a series of workshops aimed at helping attendees learn new skills and connect with others who share similar interests. A cosplay props workshop will kick off at 11 a.m., followed by a game master panel at 1 p.m., offering insight and advice for those interested in leading tabletop games like Dungeons & Dragons. Later in the afternoon, a miniature painting workshop at 3 p.m. will give participants the opportunity to try their hand at a detailed and popular hobby within the gaming community.
After the daytime festivities conclude at KHCPL South, the event will continue at KHCPL Russiaville, extending the fun into the evening hours.
Starting at 4 p.m., attendees can participate in nerd-themed trivia, where winners will receive prizes. At 5:30 p.m., a Dungeons & Dragons session will begin, offering players the chance to jump into a guided adventure. Those interested in participating in Dungeons & Dragons are encouraged to register in advance by visiting the library’s website under the “Events” tab or by calling 765-883-5112.
The day will wrap up with a relaxing outdoor movie night beginning at 9 p.m., featuring a family-friendly movie, giving attendees a chance to unwind and enjoy the evening together.
“All activities are free and everyone is welcome to join in the fun,” the release states, emphasizing the library’s commitment to making the event accessible and inclusive for the entire community.
Food trucks will be available at both KHCPL South and KHCPL Russiaville throughout the event, with a variety of food and beverages available for purchase.
Library Con continues to grow as a signature event for the Kokomo-Howard County Public Library, bringing together people of all ages through a shared love of games, storytelling and creativity. With a mix of structured programming and open-ended activities, the event offers something for everyone, whether you’re an experienced gamer, a cosplay enthusiast or simply curious to explore something new.
