Mitchell Tenpenny to Close Out Kokomo Summer Concert Series This Weekend

The Kokomo Summer Concert Series is wrapping up its 2026 season this weekend, and it’s going out with a country bang!

Multi-platinum country artist Mitchell Tenpenny will take over the Kokomo Performing Arts Pavilion at Foster Park on Saturday, Sept. 26, headlining the final free concert of the season, with rising Nashville country-rock trio DELTONA opening the show.

Tenpenny has become a major name in modern country music, accumulating billions of streams and building a catalog that includes hits like “Drunk Me,” “Truth About You,” “We Got History” and his No. 1 collaboration with Chris Young, “At the End of a Bar.”

The Nashville-born singer, songwriter and producer is known for his unmistakable raspy vocals and a sound that blends modern country with rock influences. Since breaking onto the national scene, Tenpenny has earned multi-platinum certifications, topped country charts and toured alongside some of the genre’s biggest names.

And this weekend, Kokomo gets to see him for free!

The park opens at 5 p.m., with DELTONA kicking off the music at 6 p.m. and Tenpenny scheduled to take the stage at 7 p.m. The concert is free and open to all ages, with local beer, cocktails, food and vendors available throughout the evening.

DELTONA to Open the Show

Concertgoers will want to get to Foster Park early Saturday, as DELTONA, a rising Nashville country-rock trio made up of Ned Abernathy, Caleb Miller and Chris Deaton, will open the show before Tenpenny takes the stage.

The three musicians met during a writers’ round at Nashville’s legendary Bluebird Cafe and have since built a sound that combines country storytelling with Southern rock influences and high-energy live performances.

And 2026 has already been a big year for the group.

This summer, DELTONA signed a publishing deal with Sony Music Publishing Nashville in partnership with The Core Entertainment and later signed with WME for booking representation, two major moves as the group continues to gain momentum within the country music industry.

The trio has already shared bills with artists including Lee Brice, Jordan Davis, Rodney Atkins, George Birge, Cooper Alan and Avery Anna, with upcoming dates supporting Dustin Lynch.

Songs including “Heartbreak Fix,” “Love Don’t Love Me,” “Party’s In The Back,” “Cared Enough to Cry” and “The Country” have helped introduce DELTONA to a growing audience, making their opening set another reason to get to Foster Park early.

The Team Behind This Year’s Summer Concert Series

Saturday’s concert doesn’t just bring another major night of live music to Kokomo, it also marks the finale of another full season of free concerts at Foster Park.

For the second consecutive year, the City of Kokomo and Kokomo Parks & Recreation hired Kyle Gibson of The Coterie to book the entertainment for the Kokomo Summer Concert Series, putting this year’s lineup in the hands of someone who has become a familiar name behind live music and entertainment throughout the community.

Through The Coterie, Gibson regularly brings touring musicians and bands to downtown Kokomo and has spent years developing relationships throughout the live entertainment industry.

Gibson has spent years booking and coordinating entertainment for other concert series, festivals and community events, including Brews on Buckeye, The Riverwalk Concert Series and more, helping establish him as a go-to local resource when it comes to bringing live entertainment to Kokomo.

That experience led the City of Kokomo and Kokomo Parks & Recreation to hire Gibson to book the entertainment for the Summer Concert Series in 2025 and bring him back again to handle the lineup in 2026.

Throughout the summer, the series has brought national and regional artists to the Kokomo Performing Arts Pavilion while continuing one of the things that makes the series such a draw for the community: every concert is free.

The outdoor shows give Kokomo residents the opportunity to experience live music from nationally recognized artists right here at home without purchasing a ticket or traveling out of town.

Now, there’s just one more show left.

And with DELTONA opening for Mitchell Tenpenny Saturday night, the 2026 Kokomo Summer Concert Series is ending on a high note.

Keep the Party Going at The Coterie

The music won’t stop when the final Summer Concert Series show wraps up at Foster Park.

Following Saturday night’s concert, The Coterie, in downtown Kokomo, will host the official after-party featuring live music from The Gumption.

Doors open at 9 p.m., with The Gumption taking the stage at 10 p.m.

The after-party is also free, with table reservations available through The Coterie.
