Taylor students, fans, and alumni packed Taylor Memorial Field for the annual homecoming game, and the Titans gave them plenty to cheer about. Fresh off a dramatic 21-20 victory over county rival Eastern (Greentown), Taylor carried that momentum into a 47-8 rout of Clinton Central on Friday night.

The Titans wasted no time moving the ball deep into Bulldog territory on their opening drive, but Clinton Central’s Keaton Albaugh came up with an interception in the end zone to stall the threat. The Bulldogs, however, couldn’t take advantage, going three-and-out, and Taylor quickly flipped the script.

Quarterback Javionne Harris bounced back immediately, firing a 15-yard touchdown pass to Drey McClatchey to open the scoring with 6:27 left in the first quarter. By the end of the opening frame, Taylor held a 7-0 lead and was only beginning to roll.

The second quarter was all Taylor. Harris powered in on a 14-yard run, then picked off a Clinton Central pass on defense and followed it up with a 34-yard touchdown run. Keyshawn Galloway added the two-point conversion to make it 21-0. Just minutes later, Harris found Galloway for a 34-yard strike, and with under 20 seconds left in the half, the duo connected again on a 40-yard screen pass to send the Titans into the break with a commanding 33-0 lead.

Taylor kept pouring it on in the second half. Harris added a 4-yard rushing touchdown early in the third quarter, then electrified the homecoming crowd with a 49-yard scramble to push the lead to 47-0. With the running clock in effect, Clinton Central avoided the shutout late when Amrin Barrett punched in a 4-yard touchdown, but the Titans closed out a dominant 47-8 win.

It was a complete performance for Taylor, with Harris and Galloway leading an offense that lit up the scoreboard and a defense that kept Clinton Central off balance all night.

The Titans will look to keep the momentum going when they return home next week to face Sheridan.
