The We Care Trim-A-Tree Festival Kicks Off the Holiday Season in Kokomo

It’s officially the most wonderful time of the year, at least for us here in Kokomo! Nothing says the holiday and giving season is here quite like the annual We Care Trim-A-Tree Festival at the Markland Mall.

Last night, Sunday, Nov. 2, after the mall doors closed to the public, the halls came alive with the sounds of Christmas cheer as volunteers and staff from Kokomo businesses, organizations and groups filled the space to decorate their trees.

From classic Christmas characters and local nostalgia to popular movie themes and more, each tree is uniquely designed and decked out with festive decor, gifts and heartfelt touches all to spread holiday joy and raise funds for a great cause.

See the Trees and Cast Your Vote

The Trim-A-Tree Festival runs Nov. 3–16, giving locals plenty of time to stop by Markland Mall, admire the creativity and vote for their favorite trees.

Then, on Sunday, Nov. 16, the trees will be auctioned off one by one to the highest bidders in a spirited event you won’t want to miss. Whether you’re planning to bid on a tree yourself or simply want to experience the generosity, camaraderie and magic firsthand, everyone is welcome. The auction begins at 5 p.m., so mark your calendars.

The We Care Store is Back

With the trees in place, a few other beloved traditions are also returning. The We Care Store, located at 1700 E. Sycamore, is open now through Nov. 15, Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m.–5 p.m. (closed Sundays).

So, grab your goodies and those iconic cheeseballs while you can. There will be a brief closure to prepare for the Telethon and then the store will reopen fully stocked with your favorite We Care classics like Doo-Dah, Stuff, Puffs, sweatshirts, blankets, puzzles and so much more.

Save the Date: The We Care Telethon

And of course, the annual We Care Telethon will return the first full weekend in December. This year happening Dec. 5–7. It’s one of Kokomo’s most heartwarming traditions bringing the entire community together to give, celebrate and make a difference.
