Honoring All Who Served: Veterans Day in Kokomo

This blog was partnered with and paid for by CrossFit Kokomo

Veterans Day is a United States federal holiday observed every year on November 11. It honors all U.S. military veterans, the men and women who have served in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and Space Force, whether during wartime or peacetime.

At its heart, Veterans Day is about gratitude. It is a time to thank and recognize everyone who has served in the U.S. Armed Forces, regardless of when or where they served. It celebrates the courage, dedication, and sacrifice of those who put on the uniform and devoted part of their lives to protecting our country and our freedoms.

As we observe Veterans Day, we pause to say thank you to the heroes among us who stood ready when our nation called and to those who continue to inspire us through their leadership, service, and commitment to others.

At The Kokomo Post, we are proud to spotlight the people and organizations in our city who go beyond words to honor veterans through meaningful action.

In Partnership With CrossFit Kokomo

This year’s Veterans Day coverage is brought to you in partnership with CrossFit Kokomo, a fitness community built on grit, purpose and heart.

As owner Kevin Jewell shares:

“At CrossFit Kokomo, our community is at the core of everything we do. We take immense pride in being active participants in the city we call home, supporting the people and organizations that make Kokomo stronger. Every year, we come together for one of the most meaningful events on our calendar, our 24-hour Veterans Fundraiser, an effort dedicated to honoring those who have defended our nation and our freedom.”

Since 2018, CrossFit Kokomo has proudly supported Jackson Street Commons, a local organization providing housing and essential resources to homeless and at-risk veterans. For 24 consecutive hours, their athletes and community members push themselves physically and mentally, not for personal achievement but for a greater purpose. Every workout, every rep, every exhausted breath becomes a tribute to the men and women who have served our nation with honor and selflessness.

Kevin explains that this event represents who they are as a gym and as a community:

“Our world as we know it exists because of the brave men and women who stepped forward when others would not. Their courage, sacrifice, and resilience safeguard the freedoms we cherish every day. At CrossFit Kokomo, we believe it’s our duty and privilege to stand behind them.”

Through this powerful annual fundraiser, the gym not only raises funds and supplies, it raises awareness. It reminds all of us that honoring veterans means more than one day of thanks; it is a year-round commitment to support those who have given so much.

Thank you, CrossFit Kokomo, for your dedication to service, community and the heroes who inspire both.
