Western shocked Class 2A No. 2 Indianapolis Lutheran with a 46-14 statement win! 💥 The Panthers piled up 573 yards of offense — 469 on the ground — while holding Lutheran to just 15 total yards.
Levi Shoemaker opened the night with a 68-yard TD pass to Mason Conner, then broke loose for a 54-yard score of his own. Drew McKitrick dominated with 273 yards and 3 TDs, including a 95-yard sprint that left the crowd stunned.
Western (2-1) keeps the momentum rolling into next Friday’s matchup vs. Tipton. 🐾🏈

Isaiah Pickett powered the Comets with 3 rushing TDs, Gibson Eagle tossed 2 more scores, and Kaleb Hurt sealed the night with a 95-yard pick-six. For Northwestern’s girls soccer team, the night carried even more weight with county rival Kokomo in town.The Lady Tigers struck early and carried a 2-0 lead into halftime, setting the tone for the rest of the match. Kokomo looked to mount a comeback after the break, but Northwestern kept control and never let the momentum slip away. By the final whistle, Northwestern had secured a convincing 5-1 win, capping off a memorable Senior Night in style.

The Caleb Small era officially began at Kokomo, but defending 4A state champs and 5A No. 1 New Palestine showed why they’re one of the state’s best. The Dragons rolled to a 52-0 win, striking early with long touchdown runs and a blocked punt recovery.
Kokomo battled through injuries and found a spark with a Brandon Humphries-to-Jeremiah Young connection, but it wasn’t enough against the reigning champs. The Wildkats regroup and host Terre Haute South on Aug. 29 at Walter Cross Field. 🏈 #GameOfTheWeek

High school sports are back, and an early season rivalry proved to be the perfect test. On a scorching evening, Western High School hosted its annual matchup with Kokomo before a packed crowd, with fans even lining the field in lawn chairs.
The Lady Panthers opened their season with a 6-2 win over their archrival. Allison McKitrick stole the spotlight, scoring four goals, including the first just 14 seconds into the match.
The rivalry was set up as part of a doubleheader. The boys game followed but was postponed in the fourth minute because of weather.
