High school sports are back, and an early season rivalry proved to be the perfect test. On a scorching evening, Western High School hosted its annual matchup with Kokomo before a packed crowd, with fans even lining the field in lawn chairs.

The Lady Panthers opened their season with a 6-2 win over their archrival. Allison McKitrick stole the spotlight, scoring four goals, including the first just 14 seconds into the match.

The rivalry was set up as part of a doubleheader. The boys game followed but was postponed in the fourth minute because of weather.

The summer heat didn’t slow the action on Day 1 of the City of Kokomo Parks & Recreation Department Tennis Tournament at Kokomo High School. 🎾 Players of all ages battled through long rallies in front of a lively crowd, with fans finding the perfect vantage point on the grassy hill near the courts.

A summer tradition in the City of Firsts, the free, family-friendly tournament blends competition, community, and the simple joy of the game.

The fifth annual Alliance All-Star Game brought top-tier softball to Kokomo, as 40 of the nation’s best players took the field at KHS. The National team used dominant pitching and early offense to secure a 6-1 win over the American squad.

Hannah Wells and Lexie Hames led the way in the circle, while Elsa Morrison’s 2-run homer sealed the deal in front of a packed crowd at one of the best amateur venues in the country. 🥎
